ROLE-PLAYING ACTIVITY

In our class we are going to do a role play activity, for this activity we are going to decorate our class as a cafeteria.

But to open a cafeteria, we need food to give to the customers, so the students of our class will learn to do certain recipe that there are in the cafeterias, so they will give what they made before to the customers. Because of this reason, the teacher will teach them how to make certain recipes to sale.

Before to learn about how to make the recipes, the students will decorate the classroom as a cafeteria. First of all, the teacher will ask the students, what they think they make and what they do in a cafeteria. Then the teacher will write what they think in a mural. Then, they will decorate the classroom depending on what they think with the support of the teacher.

On the other hand, the teacher will teach them certain words that they will need to know. Before they do the recipes and what words they need to know to ask to the customers, what they want. And what words they have to know to answer what the worker of the cafe asked them, because also they are going to be the customers.

The vocabulary that the teacher is going to teach them, it’s the ingredients of the recipes and the script that they must know to sale what they made and what they want in case of the customer, the script it’s the following one:

The students will learn how to make croissants, pancake and different types of smoothies and juice of orange, with the help of the teacher. Moreover, the explanation of the recipes will be in English, the teacher will use words in English to refer the ingredients and she will be emphasized with a plenty of movements with her hands. For example the teacher will say egg, then she say break and then she will do the movements with her hands that action. This explanation she will do it repeatedly, so the children know what she is referring and when the students know how to do it, then the teacher and all the students will crash the egg.

This part of the activity will last two weeks, the teacher will dedicate two days of the week to practice the recipe. Meanwhile, the practice of this recipes the students will bring what they have done to their home. But on the last day of the practice of the the recipes, the teacher will keep what they had done in boxes, because the next week they will be act as the worker of the cafeteria and as the customers.

This role play activity, they will do it twice, because one time some students will the workers and the others the customers. So, the next time they will change the roles.
